Counselling and PsychotherapyCounselling and Psychotherapy

Counselling and Psychotherapy can be a great support in times of crisis or change. I provide a counselling service based in Douglas, Cork where the client can enjoy the safety, support and confidentiality of a professional therapist who will listen with respect, empathy and understanding, thereby supporting healing and change. I also offer online sessions  via phone and video link.

What I can offer my clients.

I am a Counsellor, Psychotherapist, CBT therapist, , Reiki therapist and an Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) therapist. I am also a qualified Reflexologist. I work from the Cross Douglas Road, Cork. T12DX7D. I have extensive experience working with individuals, adolescents, families and groups. My areas of special interest are working with individuals, families and clients affected by trauma, also in the field of addiction recovery which includes addictive behaviour, gambling, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, etc.

I use the Humanistic and Integrative approach / Client Centered. This involves the integration of mind, body, emotion and spirit practices. I incorporate Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Reality Therapy, C.B.T.  Solution Focused approaches and the Capacitor practices to help bring about awareness thus enabling the client find his/ her own answers.

I work with a variety of mediums such as relaxation techniques, meditation, visualisation, breath work, affirmations and EFT. The latter technique helps to change the thought process so that it no longer upsets the individual and helps to ground and balance the emotions. It is particularly effective in the area of addiction treatment.

I also use art in order to enable and empower clients to discover more of themselves. Using art as a medium can lead to the pathway of self discovery in a gentle way. I have great belief in the healing value of creativity because it is very personal and specific to one self. I am of the opinion through experience and direct evidence that creativity in whatever form helps the individual to become more open, thus allowing for more involvement, integration, awareness and mindfulness. I find this particularly evident in the healing process when working with adolescents, eating disorders, body image and trauma.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change”
– Carl Rogers.
